Modbus to Profibus DP DIN Rail Mounted Converter, T511

The T511 is DIN rail mounted module for interfacing Modbus RTU, instruments to a Profibus DP network. It acts as a Modbus Master and Profibus Slave.

T511 allows interfacing up to 4 Modbus instruments. It generates a measured variable including a status variable indicating the quality of the measurement.

Profibus DP-V0 and DP-V1 configuration service is supported.

The module reads the variables from the instrument and converts these to dynamic variables on Profibus. Four AI Function Blocks are supported. The location of the Modbus registers and data type of the Modbus variable is easily configured.

The T511 supports diagnostic information according to NAMUR NE 107. The user has fully flexibility in mapping diagnosis to the four NAMUR flags.

Lowpass filtering is supported.

The Primary Variable (PV) will be continuously read and updated. Any Modbus communication problem will be reported in the Profibus Diagnostics message.

The physical interface to the Modbus instruments is RS 485.

T511 supports one measured variable including quality status of the measurement per channel. Each channel supports blocks of up to 16 registers for cyclic exchange of input and/or output data. Configurations can be selected to allow 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 bytes to cyclically be read and/or written to the device per Modbus instrument. Max input data frame is 236 bytes.

T511 supports access to up to ten read/write setup registers per Modbus device through Profibus.

T511 supports easy configuration from a PC. No special tools are required.

Applications:

The T511 is intended for integration of existing Modbus instruments into Profibus DP network. Examples are system integrators who are building Profibus DP based systems, and manufacturers of measurement devices, detectors, and analyzers who want to offer Profibus DP capabilities in their Modbus instruments.
